Lionel Messi begins to get used to life in Miami, when he goes to the supermarket with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and children.
Messi arrived in the US on July 11 to prepare for his medical and officially sign a contract with Inter Miami. He seems to have adapted quickly to the new environment, quite different from the time he played for PSG and lived in Paris.
Messi was spotted shopping at a local supermarket called Publix yesterday . The Argentine superstar was with his wife Antonella and their three sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro. The Messi family were happy and smiling as they browsed the stalls, only stopping to take pictures with a few fans when they recognized the 36-year-old striker.
Messi happily took photos with fans in a supermarket in the US.
These photos then appeared on Twitter , and immediately went viral. “Today, I learned that Messi went grocery shopping by himself,” one account wrote.
“Imagine walking past the grocery store to buy some grilled chicken and seeing Messi pushing a shopping cart with his family,” another commented.
After his contract with PSG expired, Messi joined Inter Miami on a one-year contract, with an option to extend for another two years, meaning he is free to leave in the summer of 2024 or 2025 if he wishes. The Argentine star will be officially unveiled at a grand event called “The Unveil” at Inter Miami’s stadium on July 16.
Messi is scheduled to play his first match against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on July 21. Ticket prices for this match have been pushed up to a maximum of $ 10,000, according to Diario AS . This will be the first time Messi plays for a club outside of Europe.
In a recent interview, Messi said he wanted to be a normal person , finding a place where he could play away from the spotlight because soccer is not the number one sport in the U.S. There are more than 100,000 Argentines living in Miami, and the majority of the city’s population speaks Spanish.
“I always try to do things in a normal way, like enjoying life with my family and loved ones,” the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner replied when answering questions from his teammates in an interview earlier this week. “I like to pick up my kids from school, play with them in the park or square. I’ve been used to doing these things since the beginning of my career.”
