Cristiano Ronaldo was ‘not allowed to create a YouTube channel’?

Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record after reaching 1 million subscribers in just 90 hours of launching his YouTube channel. Despite his success, it’s surprising to learn that the superstar was once banned from creating a channel.

Announcing the launch of his own YouTube channel, Ronaldo said: “The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! Subscribe and join me on this new journey.”

YouTube may have to spend several million dollars each month to pay for Ronaldo’s channel

Fans of the Portuguese football superstar reacted quickly when the channel reached the Diamond button (10 million subscribers) in less than 12 hours, despite having only uploaded 18 short and long videos. Ronaldo’s channel set a world record by reaching 1 million subscribers in just 90 minutes, breaking the previous record of 7 hours held by K-Pop star Jennie Kim.

Ronaldo currently has a net worth of around $260 million. He earns $200 million a year, mostly from his contract with Al Nassr, a club that plays in the Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabia). Ronaldo also makes a lot of money from his social media presence , especially on Instagram. According to reports in 2023, Ronaldo charged $3.23 million per Instagram post. He has deals with major brands such as Binance, Erakulis, Nike, Herbalife, Clear Haircare, and Whoop.

While Ronaldo’s fame and fortune continue to rise, there is an interesting and little-known fact: he is not allowed to create a YouTube channel . This surprising restriction has left many fans curious about the reason behind it. It all comes down to the fact that the Portuguese superstar has a huge following on social media, with millions of fans worldwide. Ronaldo is the most followed person on social media, with over 900 million followers. But according to the website SportBigNews , the 39-year-old cannot open a YouTube channel because it would attract so many subscribers and views that it could strain the platform’s finances.

This makes sense when you look at what TikTok has done. Ronaldo joined TikTok in 2023 and quickly amassed millions of followers. His videos received millions of views, but the platform eventually banned Ronaldo’s account without giving a clear reason. There have been rumors that TikTok could not afford to pay Ronaldo a large amount of money for his presence on the platform.

In addition to YouTube, Ronaldo also has other social media channels with a huge following such as Instagram (633 million followers), X (112 million followers) and Facebook (170 million followers). These platforms allow fans to update on Ronaldo’s personal life and career.
