Sky Sports News report that Mikel Arteta is expected to commit his long-term future to Arsenal soon by signing a new contract.

The relationship between Edu, the owners, and Arteta is reportedly so strong that formal talks are not seen as necessary, despite his contract ending in 2025.

There’s been a flowing conversation between the parties involved and the club are convinced that the team will continue to improve with Arteta in charge.

David Ornstein reported at the start of the summer that there were no signs that Arteta was planning to leave, despite links at the time with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City.

“I see a manager who appears to want to continue in this project,” Ornstein told The Athletic in May. “And a club who definitely do not want to lose him.

“My assumption is that they just need to sit down, have a conversation, get the numbers right, the vision, the project, and everything. Be on the same page.

“Then I’ve got nothing to suggest that they won’t continue [together].”

Sami Mokbel then reported for the Daily Mail later that month that Arteta would be offered a significant pay rise on his current deal of £9m-a-season.

From the sounds of Sky Sports’ update, that’s going to be less of a formal offer and more of a conversation to sort things out in the near future.
