In the 27th minute, Chilean player Javier Altamirano of the home team Estudiantes suddenly lost consciousness and had a seizure, frightening everyone. Referee Fernando Echenique immediately stopped the match.
The first to reach Altamirano were his teammates Ascacibar and Enzo Perez. Medical staff from both teams rushed to provide first aid before an ambulance drove straight onto the pitch to take the Chilean midfielder to hospital.
