The magic is returning with a fresh twist as “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” gears up for its much-anticipated premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year. The studio has unveiled an exclusive in-production first look at the series, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
This sneak peek introduces behind-the-scenes moments featuring the cast, including David Henrie, Janice LeAnn Brown (playing Billie), and Selena Gomez, who returns as executive producer and guest star in the series’ opening episode.
David Henrie, who reprises his role as Justin Russo, engages the studio audience with a nostalgic question: “Who remembers the original ‘Wizards of Waverly Place?’” He continues, “We wanted to recreate that magic for a new generation.” The new footage shows Henrie and Gomez back together, revisiting their beloved roles.
In one of the preview clips, Alex Russo (played by Gomez) humorously comments on Billie’s rebellious nature: “Billie is rebellious and stubborn, sarcastic…” To which Justin (Henrie) replies, “Sounds like someone else I know.” Gomez laughs, “Haha, like me. I get it,” sparking laughter from the studio audience.
The first look also features exciting glimpses of new stunts, spellcasting, and the iconic lair that fans fondly remember from the original series. Gomez reflects on the nostalgia, saying, “This takes me back.”
Additionally, David DeLuise returns as Jerry Russo for a guest role, adding another layer of nostalgia for fans of the original series.
“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” promises to blend the charm of the original show with fresh storylines and new magical adventures.
