Exclusive: Liverpool Youngster to Complete Move After Impressive Pre-Season

Another Liverpool Youngster Set for Summer Exit

Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson is set to join Dundee United on loan for the 2024/25 season, with confirmation expected. DaveOCKOP reported on the club’s interest in the youngster, but our understanding is that the deal is done and the player is travelling to Dundee with an announcement expected on Thursday, according to Anfield Index sources.

The young defender impressed during the 2023/24 season during his loan spell at Barrow in EFL League Two, where he made 30 appearances.

Stephenson followed up that impressive loan spell with some promising performances under the Reds’ new head coach Arne Slot during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in USA, where he featured in all three games against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United. His solid progress is set to be rewarded with a loan move to Scottish Premiership side, Dundee United.

The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Reds back in September 2020 before extending his deal in February 2022. Since then, Stephenson has became a prominent figure in Liverpool’s youth setup and as captain frequently.

Stephenson’s Liverpool Future

It remains to be seen what Liverpool’s long-term plans are for the young defender, who naturally has been deployed as a right-back by Arne Slot. This obviously puts him behind some pretty strong competition in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley in that position.

But for now, Dundee United is the expected destination and confirmation of that deal is expected by Thursday.
