Tennis legend Novak Djokovic unexpectedly shared his experience when he accidentally met football superstar Lionel Messi.

Recently, tennis legend Novak Djokovic – who just won an Olympic gold medal – surprised everyone when he revealed that his meeting with Lionel Messi took place at a restaurant in the US. Meeting by chance, the Argentine star started the conversation with Novak Djokovic’s favorite sport, tennis.

Lionel Messi asked Novak Djokovic for some tennis advice. But Novak Djokovic refused to share. The reason for this refusal surprised and amused fans.

The world’s best tennis player recalled: “ I met Messi in a restaurant in America. He asked me for advice on tennis. I told him: ‘Please, Messi, don’t ask me. I won’t give you any information. You dominated football and now you want to dominate tennis. No, no, play football. When I retire, you can play tennis  . ‘

When two of the best athletes in football and tennis meet by chance

When Novak Djokovic refused for that reason, the best player of the 2022 World Cup could only laugh and humbly respond. “Then he replied like this: ‘I’m lucky that football is played with the feet and not with the hands'”, Djokovic shared.

The way Messi had to deal with the rejection made Novak Djokovic admire him even more. The tennis GOAT paid tribute to the player dubbed the world’s football GOAT: “The truth is, I’m lucky he’s not a tennis player. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have won any titles. He’s the best football player of all time. I love watching him.”
