Cristiano Ronaldo is not only regarded as one of the best players of all time but also as one of the best leaders football has ever seen. Ronaldo will be remembered for being an extra motivation to his teammates during or before an important football game.
Ronaldo showcased this in the EURO 2016 final between Portugal and France. CR7 was injured early in the match and had to be subbed off. He was in tears, but he was still there for his team and acted as the coach next to the manager, Fernando Santos, on the touchline. Ronaldo gave instructions to his teammates and the final will be remembered as the time Portugal won the European Championship without Ronaldo on the pitch and having the Portuguese legend ‘coaching’ them.
After more than eight years, one of Ronaldo’s former teammates, Jose Fonte, revealed that he and the rest of the players did not realize that Ronaldo was motivating them and giving them instructions during the game. Fonte said, “We were focused on trying to win the game. Only after we were watching the images, and that’s when we realized what was happening with him and the coach.”

Fonte was not harsh on Ronaldo, but he just told the truth about what he and the rest of the players were thinking during the match. It was the first time Portugal won the European Championship, and Ronaldo will surely not be upset that they didn’t listen to him, as he motivated them since CR7 was very grateful that the team won that special win.
Fonte has praised Ronaldo’s winning mentality in the past and said, “Ronaldo see’s every game as an opportunity to score goals. He wants to win the title and he came to [Manchester] United to win! He will 100% want to play every game, it doesn’t matter if you think he’s tired.”
After a few months of international break, Portugal will play against Croatia and Scotland in the UEFA Nations League this September. Portugal is in Group 1 in League A with Croatia, Scotland, and Poland. Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be called up for the matches unless he suffers an injury.
One of the biggest dreams that Cristiano Ronaldo has, is to play at least one official game with his son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. Cristiano Jr plays also for the U-13 Al Nassr team, and they even won the Saudi League last season, with Ronaldo Jr. being one of the best players of the tournament. Last season Cristiano Jr. managed to score 31 goals in 36 games, an average very similar as his father stats.
Many times they have shared pictures on Social media where they are training together, or going to the gym. Recently they posted one video where Cristiano Ronaldo showed his son how he should score free kicks. At first Ronaldo Jr. took an impressive free kick, which went viral, and later his father responded him with another beautiful free kick. Cristiano Ronaldo shows his competitiveness even with his own son. He wants to be his best example and teach him all of his secrets.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also concerned that not everything is related to the skills and performances, but also for his diet and fitness style. That’s why he encourage his son to take care of his body since he was a child. Cristiano Jr. is expected to be a great football player, and many believe he can reach top levels in the game. In the future we will see if the coaching skills of Cristiano with his son bore fruit.
