5 names that could be sold by Liverpool this summer

Liverpool is quite quiet in the transfer market this summer, and that could be a sign of an upcoming squad purge.

Arne Slot is currently on a pre-season tour with the squad to assess their squad before deciding who to buy and who to sell. Despite not facing financial difficulties, Liverpool are expected to let the following five players leave in order to earn a significant amount of money.

1. Kevin Kelleher

He was a hero for the Merseyside Reds last season, notably in the Carabao Cup final where he saved several dangerous shots from Chelsea, but because of that, Kelleher no longer wants to be a substitute.

There are a number of clubs in England and Scotland interested in the Republic of Ireland international, with Liverpool reportedly willing to meet his demands but only if they receive a £30m offer – a figure that is in line with his talent.

Potential destinations: Celtic, Nottingham Forest.

2. Kostas Tsimikas

Liverpool could sell the Greek defender.

Not a mainstay of the Anfield team since moving here in 2020 from Olympiacos, Tsimikas still knows how to leave his mark, most notably the decisive goal in the 2022 FA Cup final.

Although the Greek international still has three years left on his contract, he could be sold in the current transfer window as Liverpool are interested in signing Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton . Of course, the price for a club to own Tsimikas is not cheap, expected to be around £40 million.

Potential destinations: Brentford, Barcelona

3. Nathaniel Phillips

Growing up in the club’s training ground, but never being appreciated, Phillips was constantly loaned out to other clubs with the aim of accumulating playing experience. Now at the age of 27, the Anfield team is looking for a new suitable destination for him on a permanent basis. Because he only has 1 year left on his contract, the expected price for Nat Phillips is not high, only around 8 million pounds.

Potential destinations: Trabzonspor, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town , Mainz

4. Rhys Williams

Williams will find it difficult to find a place if he continues to stay at Anfield.

Also a Liverpool academy graduate and some impressive performances in the 2020/21 season, the 2001-born defender is unlikely to break into Arne Slot’s squad next season. At 23, Williams needs regular playing time, and the Anfield outfit are ready to meet that need by selling him. The expected price of just £1.5 million could be a bargain for any club interested in Rhys Williams .

Potential destinations: Several clubs in League One and Türkiye.

5. Tyler Morton

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has impressed during loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, and has also starred for England Under-21s, but Liverpool appear ready to find a partner to sell him.

It’s unclear whether Arne Slot plans to use Morton next season as a back-up to Wataru Endo, which would be a good idea, but if a club were to stump up £20m, director of football Richard Hughes would probably agree.

Potential destinations: RB Leipzig, Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt
