Ronaldo wants to play in the 2026 World Cup

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is said to want to play in the 2026 World Cup in North America despite failing to impress at EURO 2024.

After making it to a record-breaking sixth European Championship finals, Ronaldo is now aiming for a second record of becoming the first player in history to score in six different European Championships. He came close to doing so in his most recent match, when Portugal won an extra-time penalty against Slovenia. However, the Al-Nassr superstar missed the spot-kick and then burst into tears.

Fortunately, in the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Diogo Costa shone with 3 saves to help Seleccao reach the quarterfinals , thereby helping Ronaldo continue to hope to break the record he is aiming for. At this time, the 39-year-old superstar is going through his 4th consecutive match at EURO 2024 without being able to score a goal.

The Portuguese legend’s performances have come under scrutiny as he has often struggled to win aerial duels, something he was a master of in his prime, with many suggesting that EURO 2024 could be Ronaldo’s final moments on the international stage.

However, according to Relevo, EURO is unlikely to be Ronaldo’s last dance as he is keen to play in the World Cup two years from now. There is one record he is still pursuing in the final stages of his career, which is to become the first player in history to appear and score in six editions of the world’s top football tournament.

It’s too early to say anything, because Ronaldo is 39 years old this year, but last season this player had an explosive performance when he scored 50 goals in all competitions for the Saudi Arabian team, Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo will return to action on Friday when Roberto Martinez’s side face 2018 World Cup winners France in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024. Ronaldo has said this will be his last EURO.
