Superstar Lionel Messi recently surprisingly pointed out 4 faces that will compete for the 2024 Ballon d’Or title. Notably, Jude Bellingham is not on this list.
According to Messi, Bellingham is not a candidate for the 2024 Ballon d’Or
After the end of the 2023/24 season, football stars quickly gathered to compete in the world’s two top national team tournaments: EURO 2024 and Copa America 2024.
Messi is also currently participating in the Copa America taking place in the US. He and his Argentina team are preparing to enter the semi-final match against Canada at 7am tomorrow morning (July 10).
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the Ballon d’Or award for over 15 years. Messi has won 8 times and CR7 has won 5 years. However, both Messi and Ronaldo have now retired from European football and will find it difficult to compete for this title.

In a recent interview, Messi shared his thoughts on the race for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. Accordingly, he unexpectedly left out Jude Bellingham from the list but named Barca and Spain prodigy Lamine Yamal.
In addition, the owner of 8 Golden Ball titles also listed other big names that could compete for this award, including Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
“Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and many other potential players, they can all compete for the Ballon d’Or with their level and class,” Messi said.
“I also think Lamine Yamal will be an extremely notable factor. He is very young and has played very well for Barcelona as well as the Spanish national team. If he can continue to develop and stabilize, winning the Ballon d’Or in the future is understandable.”
