Why is Cristiano Ronaldo “banned” from opening a YouTube channel or TikTok account?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s followers increase wherever he goes. However, he is not allowed to create a YouTube channel and is also “banned” from opening a TikTok account. Why is that?

Although Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing the end of his career, the illustrious reputation he built during his playing career has not diminished. For many years now, he has been on the “Instagram Rich List” every year. Reports from 2023 show that Ronaldo is paid $3.23 million (about more than VND 80 billion) for each post (sponsored/advertising/product introduction) on Instagram, according to CNN .

Ronaldo has 633 million followers on Instagram, 170 million followers on Facebook and 112 million followers on X (Twitter). But there is an interesting thing that also makes many people wonder, that is Ronaldo is not allowed to create a YouTube channel.

Indeed, some sports sites have explained that if Ronaldo opened a YouTube channel, he would attract a lot of subscribers and views, putting pressure on the platform’s financial situation.

In 2023, Ronaldo opened a TikTok account and, of course, immediately had millions of followers. Each of his videos was viewed millions to tens of millions of times. Eventually, TikTok also “banned” Ronaldo’s account without publicly announcing the reason. Many sources in the sports world said that Ronaldo’s popularity and large number of followers also put a strain on TikTok’s finances. This further reinforced the explanation for why Ronaldo was not allowed to open a YouTube channel.
