‘Spider-Man’ Tom Holland decides to delete social media

Tom Holland was so caught up in negative comments that he was mentally exhausted. Therefore, the actor decided to delete social media.

On August 15, Tom Holland posted a 3-minute video, sharing that he will delete Instagram and Twitter from his electronic devices. The actor stayed away from social media to focus on taking care of his health and spirit.

“I felt overly stimulated by social media. I got caught up in comments mentioning my name. That had a negative impact on my mental health. So I decided to delete the app,” the actor told his 67.7 million followers.

Holland said it took him about an hour to get his thoughts out, and the Spider-Man: No Way Home star mentioned the UK-based youth mental health charity.

“I understand that people with mental health issues are often stigmatized terribly. However, for me, there is no shame in asking for and seeking help. We should do it,” he shared in the video.

Holland’s decision to temporarily stop social media activities surprised fans. Many comments sent wishes and encouragement for the actor to recover soon.

“Don’t worry, we understand but we will miss you too,” one person wrote. Another commented under the actor’s video: “Hope you have a better life away from toxic comments.”

According to Deadline , Tom Holland received more attention after the strong effect of the blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home at the end of 2021. This means the actor has to face more compliments and criticism.

In the film, the British actor plays Danny Sullivan – the first person to be acquitted of multiple personality disorder.
