More recently, Arsenal announced a limited-edition line that combines adidas performance wear with streetwear with a London focus, in partnership with Maharishi, a London fashion brand.
The line of apparel, which includes off-field and pre-match wear, showcases the club’s legacy with iconic symbol prints and embroidery, all while sporting a distinctive camouflage design that was inspired by the Lunar Year of the Dragon. Both the men’s and women’s teams wear pieces from the collection, which encourages community and togetherness and stars players like Declan Rice and Reiss Nelson.
adidas Spezial never fully took off in the United States, despite having its own devoted following. However, the brand has worked hard over the past year to relaunch the lineup for that market, expanding the availability of favorites like the Handball Spezial. Furthermore, a collaboration with Maharishi is scheduled for October, so it is probable that a lot more people will soon learn about the collection and what is perhaps its most famous sneaker.
This is by no means the London-based label’s first collaboration with the Three Stripes; it was paired with the sneaker company alongside Undefeated back in 2014. It is nonetheless their first in nearly a decade, coming after multiple releases with Nike, Reebok, and Mizuno in addition to the previously mentioned cooperation. The two have dressed the iconic Spezial figure in what appears to be a muted colorway for their reunion, primarily consisting of black suedes with a trademark gum bottom. But if you look closely, you can see that the side stripes have a slight camo print on them in addition to the gilded “MAHARISHI” stamp.
Here, you can take a closer, more thorough look at the Maharishi x adidas Handball Special. Sole Retriever reports that these should be available in October.
