Real Betis are set to overhaul their goalkeeping department this summer. Claudio Bravo has already departed, while there is also speculation linking current number one Rui Silva with a return to Portugal. As things stand, only Fran Vieites would remain for head coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Betis want to sign Alvaro Valles as their new first-choice ‘keeper, and he may not be the only stopper returning to the Benito Villamarin this summer. According to MD, club bosses are considering a move for Adrian San Miguel, whose Liverpool contract is expiring at the end of this month.
Adrian came through Betis’ academy to the first team in 2009, before leaving for West Ham United in 2013. He has a renewal offer on the table from Liverpool, although he is reported to be “delighted” at the prospect of returning to the green-and-white side of Seville.
It remains to be seen whether Real Betis made a move for Adrian, for now it’s only a consideration. He’d certainly provide valuable experience, which would be needed considering the lack thereof for Vieites, who’s set to be number two next season.
