Drake and Taylor Swift suffer because of AI deepfake, constantly having fake songs spread

Time reported that some songs attributed to pop stars Drake and Taylor Swift are being spread online, causing a lot of frustration.

Two days before Taylor Swift released her new album The Tortured Poets Department , many accounts suddenly spread the news that the album was leaked, accompanied by music clips believed to be Taylor’s vocals.

Besides the doubts, many fans still believe this is true, they happily shared that they had the “special privilege” to listen to their idol’s album in advance.

Taylor Swift and the “suffering” called deepfake

As for Drake , a diss rap song (rap that attacks and provokes another individual) called Push Ups was released with the male rapper’s distinctive voice.

The rap song quickly gained attention on social media as its content took aim at Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin, among others.

But in fact, the songs being spread are just hoaxes created by AI for the purpose of attracting interaction. Facing the storm, Taylor and Drake’s fan community had to continuously warn people, begging everyone to stop listening and spreading them.

However, this is not the first time Taylor Swift and Drake have become victims of deepfake. Previously, in January 2024, images with erotic poses based on Taylor Swift’s face spread rapidly on social networks.

Drake was also faked last year, the male rapper even warned on Instagram that “This will be the last AI song”.

According to Time magazine  , debates about “AI music” have recently become more intense than ever because voice imitation techniques are increasingly improving and becoming more accessible to everyone.

Even “hardcore fans” of artists have to admit that sometimes they cannot distinguish between the idol’s real voice and a work created by AI.

Not only Taylor or Drake, many other stars such as  Beyoncé , Billie Eilish… have also been victims of deepfake technology at least once.

And it’s expected that they will continue to face them until lawmakers find the best way to protect real artists from artificial impostors.

It is difficult to stop counterfeiters

In the face of AI impersonators, Frank Ocean and Beyoncé have pioneered strong privacy policies for their output.

Even during the process of completing the albums Blonde and Endless , Frank Ocean always brought hard drives for storage instead of online files to avoid leaks.

Faced with a bad situation, three major music publishers, Universal Music, Concord Music Group and ABKCO, sued AI Anthropic Company, accusing the company of violating song lyrics copyright.

In addition, more than 200 musicians, including  Billie Eilish , Stevie Wonder and Nicki Minaj… recently signed a letter criticizing the “use of AI to steal the voices and images of professional artists”. to pressure technology companies to pledge not to develop artificial intelligence (AI) tools to replace human creativity.

Time magazine believes that it will probably take a long time for this bill or other similar bills on AI to be passed, because implementation will be extremely complicated and difficult at a time when technology is developing. develop too strongly.

So maybe in the next few months, even years, deepfake songs will continue to cause trouble and frustration for the music industry.
