Messi contributed a goal in this match. Thus, Messi has 12 goals this season, equal to Luis Suarez. In addition, Messi also assisted 13 other goals.

Messi became the fastest player to reach the mark of contributing 25 goals in a season. It only took him 12 matches to reach this number. Previously, the record belonged to Carlos Vela with 16 matches at the beginning of the season to contribute to 25 goals for LAFC in 2019.

Lionel Messi is constantly creating new records in MLS. Thanks to that, Inter Miami’s performance this season has improved significantly. No longer the bottom-ranked team like last season, Inter Miami is leading the Eastern League and is almost certain to win tickets to the play-off round.

MLS will not suspend tournament matches to make way for Copa America. Therefore, Messi will miss the next few matches of Inter Miami to join the Argentina team to participate in Copa America. Defending champion Argentina will play on June 21, but they will start playing friendly matches from June 10. Therefore, Messi will have to focus with the team from the beginning of next week.
