Chanel’s Haute Couture design for Margot Robbie at the 2023 Golden Globes took 750 hours to make.
At the 80th Golden Globes in Los Angeles on January 10, Margot Robbie wore a light pink Chantilly lace and tulle dress from Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection. Her fashion and makeup style was created by stylist Kate Young, inspired by the power of Hollywood.
The design includes 30,000 embroidered details, sequins, beads and feathers, taking 31 days to make. To increase the sparkle, the actor added a brooch in the middle of the neckline and wore 18K white gold and diamond earrings from the French fashion house. Makeup artist Pati Dubroff applied makeup to the beauty in a natural style with pink lipstick and a little blush.
Vogue rated her appearance as suitable for her new role in Babylon (directed by Damien Chazelle). The bottom of the dress flares slightly, reminiscent of 1920s dresses in the film. Kate Young told Vogue that in preparation for the event, the idea of the dress had been discussed since last fall. “The team met Chanel in September in Paris when participating in a photo shoot,” she said.
