Sk8er Boi singer Avril Lavigne doesn’t seem to have aged a day since her iconic debut album launched nearly 20 years ago
She was a skateboard-loving teen with a youthful complexion and a penchant for heavy black eyeliner, and now Avril Lavigne looks, well, exactly the same.
Aged just 18 when her first album Let Go launched – which contained some absolute bangers like Sk8er Boi and I’m With You – Avril became known for her punk style, sparking a huge trend amongst the early noughties youths.
Now 36, Avril is relatively unchanged and still championing that skater-chic grunge look – much to her fans’ delight. She also has a legion of 9.3 million Instagram followers, many of whom repeatedly marvel at how she doesn’t seem to ever really age.

Avril’s latest Instagram snap shows the star in a daring green bikini with her lengthy blonde hair styled in the straight style she’s been favouring for decades.
“IS SHE A VAMPIRE? SHE DOESN’T AGE AT ALL,” one user demanded to know, echoing all of our thoughts.
“Literally hasn’t aged,” agreed another.
“You’re just the same as you were at 18,” wrote a Spanish fan.
Other snaps from this June show the singer with lashings of black eyeliner, black nail polish and a very “90s-teen” ensemble.
“Queen of not ageing,” responded fans, delighted to see Avril team up with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk for the series of images.
So just HOW does she manage to stay looking so remarkably youthful?
She told Teen Vogue in 2019 that she always uses a Renewing Cleanser, a Refining Mask and Makeup Removing Cloths from US brand Proactiv. Sadly they discontinued sales in the UK after Boots stopped stocking the range, but we’d recommend taking a look at Dermalogica’s Clear Start range, £25 here for a kit, which boasts similar blemish-fighting actives.

As for her makeup look, her beauty bag always features two smoky-eye essentials: Maybelline mascara and MAC eyeliner. She didn’t confirm which exact products for each but we’d hazard a guess of it being MAC’s Eye Kohl Pencil Liner, £12 here.
If you ask us, we think that Avril’s pale skin is one of the reasons for an absence of wrinkles. It doesn’t look like the star has ever attempted to tan or sunbathe, and likely douses herself in a high SPF.
