Though as divisive as they come, there’s nothing quite as cool as a denim-on-denim look – and Miley Cyrus knows it well. The musician was recently spotted in New York City wearing the classic “Canadian tuxedo” look, and even gave us “day” and “night” versions of the ‘fit.
In the AM, Miley headed out to reportedly film a music video in a slouchy blue denim jacket and matching oversized jeans, clutching a cup of coffee and with her now-signature blond mullet still wet. She kept her eyes protected with a pair of equally oversized Gucci shades and covered the lower half of her face with a blue surgical mask.
That evening, Miley was again spotted in the denim ensemble, this time wearing it with pointy-toe black boots embellished with chains from HAVVA, another blue mask, and a Chrome Hearts black backpack bag. She added a glamorous smoky eye for a glamorous punk rock vibe. We’re not sure if Miley was wearing a designer denim look or not, but the finish on her Canadian tux leads us to believe it could be a vintage — or easily replicated with secondhand pieces!

According to Just Jared Jr., Miley was in New York to shoot a “secret music video” with Dua Lipa, and when she wasn’t wearing her denim outfit, she was rocking a leopard coat and fishnet tights — a look that definitely suits her new retro, Blondie-esque sound.
Celebs have long been fans of the Canadian tuxedo look, from Britney and Justin’s all-denim red carpet outfit to Jane Birkin back in the ’70s. More recently, Millie Bobby Brown took on the trend, going for an ’00s-inspired look with a newsboy cap, jean jacket, and logo bag. With her rock ‘n roll twist, Miley has definitely given us the inspo we need to break out our favorite denim pieces this fall — even after months of wearing leggings and sweats!
