In a recent report, AS mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are showing interest in recruiting the Spanish talent when he becomes a free agent at the end of next month.
Thiago has endured an injury-ravaged season at the Merseyside club as he was out of action for a long time due to multiple injuries. The 33-year-old has only featured in one match for the Reds during this campaign, playing a total of five minutes in the Premier League.
The Spaniard has made 98 appearances for Liverpool thus far, scoring three goals and grabbing six assists in the process across all fronts. However, frequent injuries have often derailed his progress at Anfield.
Thiago’s current deal at the Merseyside club will expire at the end of next month which could open the door for Barca to sign him on a free transfer later this summer.

What Will Thiago Bring To Barcelona?
Thiago is one of the best passers in world football and has got the vision and guile to cut open the opponent’s defence when he is playing well on the pitch. The Spaniard can also strike the ball with venom from long range and can complete a few eye-catching dribbles in the opposition half. However, father time is slowly catching up with his game. Furthermore, he has missed a lot of matches for Liverpool this season because of injuries.
At the moment, Thiago needs a change of scenery so that he can get his career back on track. Hence, it makes sense to seal a move back to his homeland as he knows Barcelona well from his previous spell with them and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Nou Camp.
We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to the Catalan club‘s midfield department. Thiago might even help Barca challenge for some major honours if he can prove his fitness over the next few years. With all things considered, it makes sense for the Catalan giants to try and re-sign the Spanish midfield ace on a free transfer later this year.
