An old Miley Cyrus smash hit has made a comeback following Joe Biden’s projected victory in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. People across the country — including one Selena Gomez — took an opportunity to celebrate using the infamous song as their anthem.
Once news of the historic Biden-Harris win broke, Miley tweeted, “Now THIS is a PARTY IN. THE USA!” The 27-second clip she shared included a montage of President-elect Biden nodding along and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris marching and dancing, with Miley’s song playing in the background:
Fellow Disney channel alum Selena was also seen creating her very own party in the U.S.A., singing along to the hit while in the car in a video that was originally uploaded to her Instagram story. The song made such a resurgence that just a few hours later, according to Chart Data, it re-entered the top 200 on U.S. iTunes.
It’s fitting that the song is making a comeback, since Miley herself has been vocal in her support for Democratic candidates. Back in October, as Variety reported, Miley hosted an Instagram Live as a way to connect with Kamala Harris to discuss the importance of voting and the impact of younger voter turnout. Now, Miley’s feel-good anthem is being used as a song to celebrate change across the country.
