Cardi B is letting us all know that beauty is, in fact, pain. The “Bongos” singer took us along for the discomforting process of getting your tongue pierced, and let’s just say we are more than okay sitting this one out.
In peak Y2K renaissance, a tongue piercing is an age-old cool-factor signifier. All the popular girls in the early 2000s had their tongues pierced, and most of us wanted to join in at one point. Well, twenty-something years later, Cardi B has shown us that this cute embellishment is not easy to sit through.
On October 12, Cardi hopped on Instagram Live to give her followers a step-by-step look into the tongue-piercing process. Cardi B is a tongue piercing pro since this is actually her second time getting a tongue piercing. In 2019, she wore a barbell with a stud in the shape of a middle finger on her tongue piercing for a bit, but we can assume it is now closed. Now, she’s ready to reintroduce the style back onto her body again, and it’s proven to be quite difficult.
We all were given front-row seats to Cardi’s experience, making us wonder if it truly was worth the hassle. During the process, she screamed, cried, and begged for ice to cure the pain.
The next day, she suffered from a different kind of pain. “I really regret piercing my tongue because I am so hungry,” she let fans know via Instagram Stories. “I’ve been hungry since last night. But I don’t want to eat because of my tongue.” It’s looking like Cardi will be having ice cream, soups, and juice for the next few days.

Tongue piercings may not be for everyone, and I know we’re grateful to get an up-close perspective before we step into the piercing shop to get one. And while this one was clearly painful, Cardi B is no stranger to jewelry accessories. She loves a good piercing, but she’s also known for serving intricate and stylish accessories with every look she puts on. She’s notably used jewelry as a key component of a look, proving that the bling is just as important as the outfit.
The rapper recently celebrated her 31st birthday wearing a red lacy skin-tight dress with a long train and matching red heels. She finished off the look with a ringlet-curled updo. The night ended with her husband and fellow rapper Offset gifting her three new Birkin bags, which is

the gift. Cardi’s look also featured a Monroe piercing with a diamond stud. We haven’t confirmed if the jewelry is a stick-on or if she actually got it pierced, but it sure looks like the later, as it’s still very much there in her more recent posts. It’s safe to assume it was probably not as painful as the tongue.
