Later in the evening on May 17, Gomez changed into a figure-hugging navy dress that ignored boring style conventions with a dramatic black bust and petal-like sleeve details, bringing the look together with yet another pair of black heels.
Though Selena Gomez certainly brought the drama in black and navy Oscar de la Renta, the look’s quarter-length sleeves and calf-length hemline could lean a bit mature for the 31-year-old pop star. Instead, Gomez lightened up the nearly-demure ensemble by keeping her hair down in loose, unfussy waves and throwing on a handful of modern sparkling rings. The classic red lip was not a bad touch, either.
While it’s been a long time since anyone would strongly denounce pairing black with blue, this is far from the first time Gomez has effortlessly embraced a so-called fashion faux pas.
