Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are said to be planning to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo next summer.
At the age of 39, Cris Ronaldo still shows excellent form with 62 goals for Al Nassr after 66 appearances in all competitions. This season, CR7 has opened fire 48 times in just 47 matches.
This impressive form helps Ronaldo’s door to return to Europe widen. Specifically, according to Saudi 360, Leverkusen plans to recruit the 39-year-old striker next summer.
Notably, it was coach Xabi Alonso who suggested Leverkusen recruit Ronaldo. Both were teammates for Real Madrid, from 2009 to 2014.
Leverkusen is experiencing a memorable season, winning the Bundesliga championship for the first time in history. Xabi Alonso and his students face a great opportunity to win a treble of titles this season when they have reached the finals of the DFB-Pokal and Europa League.
For his part, if he lands at Leverkusen, Ronaldo will be able to participate in the Champions League next season. He is currently the player with the most goals in Champions League history with 140 goals. In addition, CR7 has also won the championship 5 times in this tournament.
It is still unclear whether Cristiano Ronaldo will agree to return to Europe or not. Previously, in January, CR7 shocked everyone by asserting that the Saudi Pro League was no worse than the top European leagues, specifically Ligue 1.
“Honestly, in my opinion, I think the Saudi Pro League is no worse than Ligue 1, if not more. In Ligue 1, only 2-3 strong teams. Meanwhile, in the Saudi Pro League, the competition is much higher. I’ve played here for 1 year so I know it very well. The tournament is improving every day,” said the owner of 5 Golden Balls.
