6 football stars prepare to enter the final Euro: Ronaldo and Modric’s farewell

Euro 2024 is just over a month away from officially kicking off. This year’s tournament is said to be the last participation of a series of famous stars as many notable names are already old.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Having turned 39, Ronaldo does not have much time left to play professionally and it is almost certain that Euro 2024 will be the last time he participates in this tournament. The Portuguese superstar won the championship once with his team in 2016 and is expected to continue leading his teammates to re-establish this achievement.

Ronaldo is still performing at his peak in the Al Nassr shirt. This season, the owner of 5 Golden Balls has scored 52 goals and 14 assists in 52 matches.

Luka Modric

Modric is considered the best player in Croatian history. However, unfortunately the midfielder playing for Real has not yet won any international titles. He and his entire team finished second in the 2018 World Cup, finished third in the 2022 World Cup and continued to finish second in the 2022/2023 Nations League.

Next September, Modric will officially turn 39 years old. He definitely wants to win glory at this year’s Euro as a beautiful ending to his journey with the national team.

Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski is the top goalscorer in world football with more than 600 goals. At the Polish national team, the 35-year-old player also holds a record of 82 goals. This year, Lewandowski has shown signs of age in every step of his run. Euro 2024 could be the last major international tournament of this striker’s career.

However, Lewandowski’s Polish team is not highly appreciated. The whole team also has to go through the play-off round to win a ticket to Euro this year.

Manuel Neuer

Neuer has a huge trophy collection with both the C1 Cup and the World Cup. However, the 38-year-old goalkeeper has never won a Euro championship. This year, Neuer hopes to conquer this trophy when the tournament is held in his home country of Germany.

Despite his age and having just gone through a long period of recovery, Neuer will likely still be Germany’s number 1 choice in the next Euro, instead of his junior Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Olivier Giroud

Giroud is a late bloomer in world football. However, the former Arsenal star has gradually asserted his talent. At this time, Giroud is the player who scores the most goals for the French team with 57 goals, making an important contribution in the home team’s journey to the throne in the 2018 World Cup.

Giroud was part of the French team that played in the Euro 2016 final at home but could not score and had to watch Portugal take the throne. Giroud will leave Europe to play football in the US this summer. Euro 2024 could be this player’s last major international tournament. Currently, Giroud’s France team is considered the number 1 candidate for the championship.

Thomas Muller

Muller has 45 goals in 128 appearances for the German team. According to Mirror, Muller is the German player with the most titles. However, the 34-year-old still lacks the Euro Cup in his collection.

Even though he is past his prime, Muller is still a card that cannot be overlooked for the German team. Muller’s ability to choose his position is probably unmatched by any other player. At Euro 2024 at home, Muller is expected to shine brightly.
