Cardi B joins the parade of celebrities starting to talk about the Olympics for NBCUniversal.

The rapper appears in a 90-second promo Saturday night during NBC’s broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, where he meets; with sprinter and Olympic hopeful Sha’Carri Richardson spotlighting the next Summer Olympics, scheduled for July 26. NBCU and its parent company, Comcast, have the rights to broadcast the athletic spectacle in the US

“As the Paris Olympics quickly approach, we continue our commitment to creating combustible moments that will cut through the chaos and resonate with multiple audiences,” said Jenny Storms, NBCU’s chief marketing officer of entertainment and sports, in a statement declaration. “Pairing Sha’Carri with Cardi was a natural fit. They are titans in their respective fields, mutual fans of each other, and share many common interests. Sports, music and pop culture audiences will be drawn by their genuine affection and respect.”

The promo is part of a larger marketing effort by Comcast and NBC, which have committed to paying $7.75 billion for U.S. broadcast rights to the Olympic Games between 2021 and 2032. NBC has been promoting the Paris Olympics for months and uses famous faces like Megan Thee Stallion, Peyton Manning and Dolly Parton, with executives betting that the Paris location means NBCU will have fewer time zones to navigate compared to recent efforts that have sent the company to major cities in Asia

In the promo, the duo meets in person for the first time to get their nails done. Richardson shares details of her rigorous training schedule. The two talk about their enthusiasm about the Olympic Games. NBCU will make the entire conversation available via digital media and share more excerpts during regular programming and on social media in the coming weeks. There will be more conversations between celebrities and athletes in the coming months.

Richardson won a gold medal in the 100-meter run at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last summer, earning the title of “Fastest Woman in the World.” She is expected to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in June with the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris, where she is expected to compete for gold in multiple events this summer.
